‘ORATORIO DE NAVIDAD’, J. S. Bach
Coro San Ignacio de Loyola, Coro CEU San Pablo, Diversity Youth Choir
From San Ignacio de Loyola School we are convinced of the importance that music has in the development of our students, as well as its power to generate cultural and social capital in our environment. For this reason and annually, we hold symphonic-choral concerts, which began at Christmas 2017 with the ‘Glory’ of A. Vivaldi, continued in December 2018 with ‘El Mesías’, by GF Haendel and in 2019 with JS Bach’s ‘Christmas Oratory’.
In them, the entire educational community of our center and Torrelodones in general, we are twinned in admiration for the aesthetic proposal represented, which transmits essential and common values to humanity. In these concerts, held in the Fernández-Baldor Theater, more than 400 spectators attend, in addition to the more than 200 musicians who meet on stage. The concerts incorporate a didactic format, in which the director, José María Álvarez, before the interpretation of each part, explains various musical examples in order to bring the work closer to those present.
Our educational concerts are conceived as meeting points and fraternization of the educational community and the neighbors of Torrelodones, in which on each occasion the possibility of admiring a classical musical work is offered by the great performers, whether they are students, singers amateurs or great music professionals.
These concerts seek to follow a musical didactic path that takes students along a logical path in the advancement of their musical and technical knowledge.
With these events, we seek to offer the educational community and the general public access to this universal repertoire in their own locality, without having to travel to large urban centers to listen to it. In this way, year after year, we will forge a precious tradition of marked local character, which strengthens ties between all the agents involved: students, teachers, staff, neighbors, merchants, public authorities, etc.
